Sustainability as a way to drive sustained impact in, on and far beyond the skin

We connect risks, opportunities, and impacts to obtain a holistic view of our business and drive impactful decisions that will leave future generations in a better place. At LEO Pharma, we seek to sustain our impact beyond tomorrow – because every touch leaves a legacy. We do so with deliberate action, focusing on:

  • Minimizing our environmental footprint to advance growth with less – By proactively addressing climate change to further bring down our CO2 emissions compared to previous years while optimizing our energy use and resource efficiency
  • Empowering people to advance possibilities – By fostering an inclusive work environment with a high emphasis on development and leadership to create a space where everyone can thrive
  • Driving meaningful impact for patients enabled by innovation – By uniting in our care for the patients that we serve, we focus on patient engagement, patients’ needs and taking them into consideration in everything we do

 

At LEO Pharma, we take deliberate action to balance the footprint we leave on the planet with the imprint we leave on people’s lives. Our footprint refers to the tangible environmental and operational impact of our business: from CO2 emissions and resource use to waste and pollution. This is the mark we must reduce, manage, and mitigate through smarter processes, cleaner energy using renewable sources, and more efficient systems. In parallel, our imprint is the lasting value we create for patients, healthcare providers, and our employees. It is the positive legacy we build through scientific innovation, inclusive culture, and meaningful partnerships. Just as the footprint can leave erosion, an imprint can leave elevation – a sign that something of value has passed through. This is the balance that we seek to make: to tread lightly where we must and to leave a mark where it matters. This approach ensures that while we manage our operational responsibilities with care and discipline, we also act boldly to deliver our purpose: making a fundamental difference for those that need it most and leaving a legacy for future generations to be proud of.

Shared ownership across levels of Management

 

At LEO Pharma, Sustainability is anchored with the Board of Directors who endorse the sustainability strategy, as well as sustainability related policies and ESG targets, as part of the overall corporate strategy. The Board of Directors has empowered Executive Management with accountability to oversee sustainability performance and define strategic development and priorities. Shared executive ownership ensures cross-functional integration and a strategic approach to sustainability throughout the organization, with individual GLT members acting as sustainability stewards in a topic-specific governance set-up.

LEO Pharma is committed to acting as a responsible global citizen and supporting the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We participate actively in selected Sustainability fora and partner with organizations that share our objective of combating climate change and promoting responsible work environment, research and medicine production.

  • UN Global Compact: A United Nations pact to encourage companies worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and to report on their implementation of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. LEO Pharma has been a signatory of UN Global Compact since 2018.
  • Marseilles declaration: The company-signatories of this declaration share common values and believe that the welfare of animals used in the research and production of medicines and vaccines requires the greatest consideration. This work demands application of high and most consistent standards of animal welfare and laboratory animal science regardless of where it is performed. LEO Pharma became a signatory of the Marseille Declaration in 2022.
  • Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi): Champions science-based target setting as a powerful way of boosting organizations’ competitive advantage in the transition to the low-carbon economy. It is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).   • Women’s Empowerment Principle (WEP): A set of principles for businesses offering guidance on how to empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community. Developed through a collaboration between the United Nations Global Compact and UN Women, the WEPs emphasize the business case for corporate action to promote gender equality and women's empowerment. LEO Pharma has been a signatory to WEP since 2025.
