“Get ready to be challenged – from the very beginning, you will be trusted and given the mandate to solve your tasks and make the decisions it requires. You will thrive here if you like to innovate, progress, and make a real impact.”
I am Emma Canton and I work as a Marketing Trainee in Iberia. In this position, I work to support the strategic direction that we have set for the year; helping with everything from starting activities to continuously providing relevant material.
Before joining LEO Pharma, I was studying pharmacy, so I knew of LEO’s product portfolio, the established position in the market and the fact that it’s a very reputable company. In addition, I have always had an interest in dermatology and in the importance of skin care, so when I was given the opportunity to do my internship at LEO Pharma, I didn't even think about it.
Working here is fun, challenging and really a thrill. It’s great to know that you have people by your side, someone supporting you and listening to you; people who care about you and want to give you their best and offer you all possible opportunities if you just show your commitment and eagerness to develop.
From the very first moment I joined LEO Pharma, my colleagues have made me feel a part of the team. The atmosphere is great and there is room for discussing challenging topics due to the respect and the care between us all.
I think the best part of my job is that it is so dynamic and that I get to be involved in many areas of the business which allows me to build great stakeholder-management skills, business acumen and a deep understanding of how we can offer the best solutions to patients. At LEO Pharma, I have gained and continue gaining a real breadth of experience.
Working in such a dynamic workplace also allows me to learn many new things daily. My work challenges me every day – challenges that force me to improve and grow. Learning to adhere to deadlines and master the art of timing in relation to highly important situations and events like industry congresses is also a new world for me. You must have everything under control, but with the help from my colleagues, everything always runs smoothly and successfully.
In my job working with, among other, LEO Pharma’s attendance at industry congresses, I am forced to stay on top of things and find inspiration in my surroundings. It is a competitive world with many regulations, so coming up with new innovative ideas can be tough. You must be original and well-organized to attract doctors and share knowledge with them in an efficient manner, ultimately helping more patients live fulfilling lives.
I am very proactive and have a genuine desire to work and make an impact. I love getting involved and collaborating with my colleagues on important projects as it allows me to gain skills I did not have before and as it enables me to contribute to advancing the standard of care for people with skin diseases.
To anyone who considers working at LEO Pharma, I want to emphasize the feeling of really belonging; you will feel the genuine support from your colleagues, and you won't ever feel alone.
Get ready to be challenged – from the very beginning, you will be trusted and given the mandate to solve your tasks and make the decisions it requires. You will thrive here if you like to innovate, progress, and make a real impact.
If I could invite any life science pioneer for dinner, I would invite Marie Curie. She is the typical reference character for the role of women in science. Marie Curie and her contributions to science are incredible, and she has even won the Nobel Prize. I also think of Joan Massagué, a renowned pharmacist focused on cancer research who has improved the lives of cancer patients significantly.
