Renal Osteodystrophy
Almost everyone who has kidney disease- whether on dialysis or not- will have a problem keeping their bones healthy. Renal Osteodystrophy is a common type of bone disorder which occurs as a result of kidney disease. It occurs when the amount of calcium in the blood drops below a healthy level. Most of these patients require treatment with an active vitamin D analogue in order to ensure the healthy maintenance of their bones. One AlphaŽ (alfacalcidol) is such a product.
